Heritage Capital Management is an independent, privately owned, investment management firm. Founded in 1989, HCM is an SEC Registered Investment Adviser that manages client accounts on a discretionary basis.
Our management philosophy is based on two overriding principles. While there are never any guarantees in investing, our first goal is to "own the best and ignore the rest" in terms of equity and asset class selection. In addition, we believe it is vital to actively manage the risk of the market environment at all times in the programs we are responsible for.

Daily State of the Markets
Good Morning. Anyone who takes the study of the stock market seriously undoubtedly spends at least some of their time with sentiment indicators. For example, sentiment models and indicators account for 15% of our daily risk management work and 10% of our weekly work. So, while market sentiment is obviously not nearly as important as trend, momentum, breadth, or fundamental indicators, it is something to pay attention to - especially when the mood of the market reaches an extreme.
Mid-day Market & Model Update
Stocks opened lower this morning as a result of the nation’s GDP coming in below the consensus expectations. While a growth rate in the fourth quarter of +2.8% is certainly an improvement over the third quarter’s +1.8% rate, it was below the ramped-up expectations for a rate of +3.1%.
